Identification

Gray cap covered with darker scales, white-gray gills, whitish stem. Confused with edible tricholomas — see gray tricholoma and wood blewit.

Why it is dangerous

Gastrointestinal poisoning: per published data symptoms begin 15 minutes – 2 hours after eating — vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain; recovery takes 4–6 days. Several hospitalizations are described.

In practice

  • Gray-scaled "blewit-like" mushrooms with white gills — leave; edible blewits have lilac tones.
