Season
May–October
Verified

Identification

White cap, gills pink → chocolate-brown, thin ring, white flesh. On grassland soil.

Edibility

Edible and fine — the cultivated bisporus' wild cousin.

How not to confuse it — two checks

  • Yellow staining at the stem base + chemical smell → yellow-stainer, discard.
  • Any volva/sac at the base → could be an amanita button — excavate the base, don't pull.
