Identification

Brownish amanita: volva at the base, ring, and flesh turning pink-red when bruised — the key mark.

Edibility — conditional

Edible cooked (the blushing flesh is normal); raw it's toxic. Most guides advise amanita-eating only for the experienced — the family includes the death cap.

In practice

  • Red-bruising amanita flesh + striate ring = blusher.
  • If amanita recognition isn't fluent — leave the whole genus.
