Identification

Close to the porcini: lighter, often cracked cap; the white net on the stem reaches higher; flesh white, unchanging. Mycorrhizal with broadleaf trees.

Edibility

Fully edible; culinary value equal to porcini.

  • Distinct from pale boletes with red pores by the white net and no blue staining.
