Identification

Olive-brown suede-like cap that cracks with age; yellow tubes staining blue-green on touch; pale stem without a net.

Edibility

Edible, mild flavor; best young. Flesh softens quickly with age.

In practice

  • Taste-check doubted pieces: bitterness → bitter bolete, discard.
  • Old flabby fruit bodies are not worth taking.
